What you need to know prior to appointment:
Every signer must physically appear, be coherent and present acceptable ID at the time of notarization. (See acceptable forms of ID below)
A notary cannot give advice on which certificate to use. Please know which Notarial Certificate you need (Acknowledgment of Jurat)
DO NOT SIGN documents until you are in the presence of the notary
PLEASE FILL IN ALL BLANK SPACES IN DOCUMENT BEFORE NOTARY ARRIVES BUT DO NOT SIGN. We cannot notarize incomplete documents.
Original documents must be presented for copy certification. Vital records such as marriage certificates, death certificates and birth certificates cannot be notarized.
Acceptable forms of identification:
- Valid state driver's License
- US Military ID Card
- California identification card
- US Passport
- An inmate ID Card
- Other State ID Cards
- Foreign passports stamped by US Customs
- Canada and Mexico Driver's License
All identification must be Current/Original or issued within the last 5 years. It must include a photo, signature, serial number and physical description. The name you will be signing must match or be shorter than the name on the ID.
